Who can say no to melt in your mouth pancakes or the BEST strawberry waffle I have ever found? It's casual and allows for some privacy to get to know each other. It's also a great place to people watch :)
we could have brunch somewhere nice. then stroll in spring lake park, or at the beach on a fine day. talk and get to know each other.

My first date would be something simple like going for brunch at a reasonably quiet cafe so that we could enjoy a good conversation and get to know one another. Later, if we "mesh", I would like to enjoy a quiet dinner, followed by an event at the Kennedy Center. I'm open to other ideas.

My ideal first date would be a quick lunch, followed by a nice walk, perhaps in Downtown Grand Rapids down by the water where we can just sit and chat.
